This residence is a new three bedroom, two full and two half bathroom home with 2,351 square feet of living space above 2,351 square feet of garage and work space (the work space having the potential to be future living space). The house is designed and oriented to take advantage of passive cooling techniques such as natural air flow and solar protection. The owner's original house was severely flooded during the 2004 hurricane season, therefore the intention was to provide a living space high enough to reduce the likelihood of flooding and strong enough to reduce the likelihood of other storm damage. Because of poor soil conditions, pilings were not a feasible option and the site had to be surcharged.
